Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a small oil spill in the Mission Hills area on Tuesday evening.

Around 7:45 p.m., SBCFD received calls of a strong smell of rotten eggs and tar. They responded to the area of Rucker and Calle Lindero Roads in the Lompoc Valley.

Upon arrival they found three barrels of crude oil. Two barrels were in containment and one barrel was outside containment but was static.

The Hazardous Material Unit arrived and a mitigation plan was underway.

There was no additional threat and crews remained on scene to assist with cleanup.

If Bruce Porter is successful in buying his way in the 3rd District Supe seat, this will all be swept under the rug. he'll see that the responsible company is given a new 20-50 year permit to frack anywhere they wish. Look out voters!

Sure! The oil company is going to cut the actual amount by 99% - guaranteed. If this is Greka, AGAIN, it was probably more like 130 barrels over days and they got caught. Why & how that bogus outfit is still in business is amazing. Who could possibly shed light on their operation?

I'll bet it was a Greka facility as usual. Mike "The Midnight Coker" Stoker might come to their defense even though he no longer represents them. He does know their ways though. He can train his shadow, Bruce "Take the Money & Run" Porter along with Doobie Brother # 1 aka Das "Smoke 'em if ya got 'em" Williams. Talk about crooked times in 2020. Keep thee people OUT!

Oil is either in the ground or on the ground - either way it is Nature's own product. No biggie.

Shutting this facility down is not enough. We need to shut down the oil industry county wide. Even that is not sufficient. A few months ago, a gasoline tanker crashed on highway 101 and spilled gasoline. We need to make sure that never happens again. It's time for bold action and real leadership. Let's outlaw all petroleum products countywide!!! We should set up checkpoints on all roads at the county line. No petroleum or petroleum products will be allowed in. Now if only we could figure out how to manufacture batteries, solar panels, wind turbines, and electric cars without using petroleum products...

If you live in the homes nearby, no spill is a small spill. It just reeked. This facility should be shut down. It was supposed to be shut down in 2000. But lax County oversight allowed it to become a processing plant instead of a separation plant and now the neighbors, who were there first, have to suffer the impacts of accidents and spills. Shut it down. It deals with highly toxic sludge with heavy concentrations of H2S.
