@BASICINFO805 - Well, those 4 desal guys are wearing hardhats and toolbelts, so they are just following their Work Orders from their superiors. "OK you guys! Here are your Work Orders! No big hurry. You have two or three, maybe four decades to get it done. And you will get paid for overtime every once in awhile. Just don't tell anyone, OK?"
Third District supervisor Adam hill.
Ripped off a friend in the SYV.
The one at 9:30 or so last night was the smaller SBSO copter that was being assisted with the Nora units from SBPD at the Pepper Tree Inn. They were trying to find a female involved for the call there. I checked ADS and the copter did several traverses along the northern Goleta perimeter before looping back by here on their way back to Santa Ynez.
So much of this is nonsense. Here are the stories of our family members from a bi-coastal perspective. One niece with a mother a graduate of Harvard/Stanford did not get into any highly ranked schools. All AP classes (tutors throughout, etc). She is going to Bucknell. One nephew from Ca. in regular classes in Hermosa Beach got into every UC he applied to but will go to university in Canada (dual citizenship via his father). Another niece from NH will pay full tuition at U. of Arizona....she got rejected from every UC school she applied to. Another nephew will go to Clemson....he applied to many East Coast universities and got rejected or wait listed from most.....To put it in perspective, one local Allan Hancock graduate got into all UCs he applied to. will go to UCLA and get a full ride. I think all this 'coaching'/tutoring is a lot of BS.
I know people vote my factual comments down because they don't like me personally, but what Tagdes wrote was nothing but useful information
I would quibble over USA, with Tagdes because USA is just a clearinghouse, they do not actually locate anything, they just document and route the request; possibly over whether the City of SB uses a subcontractor like IntelliQuest or does it in house but some people here need to grow up and stop acting like little b***** Jr Hi kids
It's why the City of SB now uses outsourced GPS services to locate and map new tee/saddles, and the meter they go to. Some laterals to meters used to be installed with malleable copper to bend around obstacles (as were old lead pipes from way back when). Those are impossible to mark accurately and hand digging is prohibitively expensive
I don't know if City of SB outsources USA location marking, but if you call 811 for a Montecito location, Montecito Water District sends their own rep.
For gas, So Cal Gas sends a So Cal Gas rep. Their poly pipe lateral lines are now put in with a tracer wire because they wiggle around a bit much. Frontier, Verizon, Cox, SCE generally speaking seem to like to combine efforts and use the same utility locating subcontractor per address
It was probably something like a petrified Big Mac, otherwise the authorities would have blabbed all over the place how they saved the world. Time to come clean and let us know what it was.

Who’s protecting them??? They screwed up… thank goodness though we have police as the people using this as an example to get rid of police are just wildly and bizarrely clueless. We need a well funded police force with tactical units ready wiling and able to engage.
The police massively screwed up… thankfully the border patrol tactical unit came and saved the rest of the kids. Cheers to that at least!
If you access said drug/mental health treatment you shouldn’t be able to buy or have a gun… period!
GT - I keep (repeatedly!) saying the police screwed up! They absolutely did. I’m just pointing my out that 1) much of the criticism seems to be on police in General (someone was suggesting their “overthrow”) and 2) in a chaotic scene with small town police, it’s not shocking that there was issues with decisiveness and effective (courageous) training. Nowhere am I defending the police officers decision. Just Noting that hindsight is 20/20 while pushing back on the narrative that some ave bizarrely taken that police in general are the problem and we need to get rid of them. A mass shooting is the ultimate tragic reminder that we need both gun control and a well trained, equipped and funded police force capable of responding to things such as this.
LOL:
"If there is a gunman in a classroom - you breach the door and go in. That is common sense."
Yeah, common sense if you've watched 100 too-many TV cop shows and like to spout nonsense after visiting Blame Game City. Please take the emotions out of this for a moment. Think clearly. Refrain from the name-calling biz....not helpful, and goes nowhere.
Gimli, the guys actually working on site aren’t the problem - it’s the elected leaders, voters, and public works people who run the show ultimately. See RHS’s comment above.
Otherworldly.
Donuts & Fine Wine. I like donuts and I like good Red wine, but donuts and wine together? Yeah . . . no thanks.
These desal guys are definitely union. And I bet they drink their Budweiser beer on their long, long lunch breaks.
Math and statistics isn’t your strong point.
Beautiful~Not many folks get to see a view like that! You worked for it on that trail.
