‘Short Dawgs in Da House,’ a free, dog-friendly event, will bring together dogs of all sizes and shapes for a day full of fun activities, scavenger hunt, races, and competitions on April 18, 2026. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Touted as the “dog-chella event of the year,” the family-friendly event will have a lively mix of local vendors and tail-wagging entertainment.
While the event playfully spotlights small breeds, such as dachshunds (also known as wiener dogs), corgis, pugs, and small pups, all breeds of dogs and humans are welcome to join the festivities.
The day will start at 10 a.m., with a series of races for corgis, shorties, and wiener dogs scheduled to start at 11 a.m., according to the organizers. The race is expected to be the “biggest weenie race” and will draw a crowd of spectators along the waterfront venue.

An award ceremony will be held at 1 p.m., followed by a ‘Best Outfit Contest’ and ‘Best Trick Contest’ at 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
Beyond the races and contests, Short Dawgs in Da House will have live music by Blake Quake and event MC John Wick, raffles, photo ops, boat rides, and a lineup of local vendors (including more than 15 pet-focused vendors).
Organizers are encouraging those without a dog to stop by and spend a fun Saturday and enjoy the adorable pups and the festivities.
