On April 24th, 2026, a DUI/ Driver’s License Checkpoint was held at East Hampshire Road, east of Evenstar Avenue from 7:00 PM to 01:00 AM.
A total of 450 drivers were contacted. Seven drivers were cited for operating a vehicle with license violations.
Nineteen drivers were checked for impairment using field sobriety standard tests (SFST’s). Two drivers, (S) Collins, Carl and (S) Yepez, Erick, were arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, a violation of VC 23152(a). Additionally, Yepez was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a BAC level over .08, a violation of VC 23152(b).
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes and areas of high traffic accident occurrences. The primary purpose of a DUI checkpoint is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
