The Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, involving an on-duty Simi Valley Police Officer.
On Thursday, July 2, 2026, at approximately 12:20 pm, patrol units from the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to the Los Robles Regional Medical Center regarding an officer involved shooting that occurred at the location, involving an on-duty officer from the Simi Valley Police Department.
The Simi Valley Police Department was guarding a subject they had taken into custody for an attempted murder that occurred in their city, who had injuries that required hospitalization. While monitoring the subject, the officer noticed he needed medical attention and summoned staff to assess him.
During the assessment, an incident occurred resulting in an officer involved shooting. The subject was struck by gun fire, treated by medical staff, is in stable condition and remains in the custody of the Simi Valley Police Department.
Sheriff’s Major Crimes detectives are conducting the investigation due to the incident occurring in the city of Thousand Oaks, which contracts the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office for police services.
This is an isolated incident, with no on-going threat to the public. No hospital staff, patients, or visitors were injured in the incident.
