On December 28, 2025, the Ventura County Environmental Health Division (Division) was notified by the County of Ventura Public Works Agency (PWA) of a 133,550-gallon sewage spill from a damaged exposed concrete-encased 8-inch sewer line crossing the Arroyo Simi Creek near the intersection of Moorpark Park Avenue and Leta Yancey Court at approximately 8:15 AM.
Damage from recent storm activity to the sewer line caused a release of a mixture of sewage and water into the Arroyo Simi Creek. PWA responded with assistance of Sam Hill & Sons and Rain 4 Rent contractors and abated the discharge by bypassing the damaged sewer line.
County of Ventura, Water and Sanitation posted warning signs from the damaged sewer line to three miles downstream. The signs will remain in place until January 1, 2026. The Division advises residents in the area to avoid contact with the affected areas until the signs are removed.
For further information regarding this incident, please contact Arthur Aseo with the County of Ventura, Deputy Director of PWA, at (805) 378-3015.
