On [May 12 at 4:30 p.m.], Oxnard police officers responded to a call of a fight involving baseball bats at Durley Park, 800 Hill Street. Responding officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle leaving the area.
The vehicle was occupied by one male and one female juvenile who were later arrested for an assault with a deadly weapon; both were later lodged at the Ventura County Juvenile Justice Center.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded firearm in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Officers learned that one of the juvenile’s acquaintance, Romero, had been in possession of the firearm, and had brandished the firearm during the fight.
Romero was arrested for numerous firearms-related charges as well as brandishing a firearm, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
