Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced that Christopher Alexander Rodriguez (DOB 08/09/93), of Oxnard, was convicted by a jury of two felony charges related to illegal drug sales. Rodriguez was found guilty of possession of methamphetamine for sale and conspiracy to commit a crime. The jury also found true all charged special allegations and aggravating factors, including the crime involving a large quantity of contraband.
Beginning in September 2024, detectives with the Ventura County Combined Agency Team (VCAT) were investigating the narcotics trafficking activities of Rodriguez. On September 24, 2024, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on in Oxnard. Inside the garage area where Rodriguez was staying, detectives located approximately 765 grams (nearly 2 pounds) of methamphetamine, three digital scales, packaging materials, and personal identifying items belonging to Rodriguez.
During a search of the main residence, investigators located approximately 2.7 kilograms (about 6 pounds) of methamphetamine, digital scales, sales sheets, and vacuum sealing equipment allegedly belonging to co-defendant Adriell Contreras (DOB 09/19/91), who is currently in federal custody on an unrelated drug matter. Detectives also searched Contreras’ vehicle and recovered approximately $5,000 in cash, additional cell phones, and steroid-type drugs.
Contreras’ cellphones revealed photographs of bulk quantities of methamphetamine and text messages related to narcotics sales, including communications with Rodriguez regarding methamphetamine distribution. Investigators determined Rodriguez possessed methamphetamine for sale and was working as a dealer for Contreras.
Deputy District Attorney Devin Mirchi, a member of the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office Major Crimes Narcotics Unit, prosecuted the case.
“This verdict holds the defendant accountable for possessing large quantities of methamphetamine intended for sale in Ventura County,” Mr. Mirchi said. “We thank the VCAT detectives for their thorough investigation and the jury for their careful consideration of the evidence presented at trial.”
Rodriguez is scheduled to be sentenced on June 23, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in courtroom 14 of the Ventura County Superior Court. He was remanded into custody following the verdict and faces a maximum of seven years four months in state prison.
