On [March 8, 2026 at 8:50 p.m.], Oxnard police officers responded to a call of subject with a firearm at the above location. Officers learned that the suspect had pointed a firearm at the victim and the victim’s minor child.
When officers attempt to contact the suspect (Mario Amparan, 55 year old Oxnard resident) he ignored the commands of the officers and attempted to walk away, but was quickly detained.
Amparan had discarded a loaded firearm with a high capacity magazine. Amparan, a convicted felon, was arrested for numerous firearms-related charges as well as assault with a deadly weapon and child endangerment.
