More than a ribbon-cutting, the grand opening of the museum signifies a promise kept to the children, Bryan Yee, Board Chair of kidSTREAM Children’s Museum, said.
“As we prepare to open our doors, we do so with gratitude for the collective efforts of a community that has worked tirelessly to ensure every child grows up with the opportunities and experiences that a children’s museum can unlock,” Yee added.
The museum’s opening was supported by donors and organizations, including Driscoll’s, the Gene Haas Foundation, and Ventura County-based biotech firm Amgen, according to the museum’s website.
Amgen and Amgen’s philanthropic arm, Amgen Foundation, each contributed $1 million to the museum.

kidSTREAM will offer interactive exhibits, educational programs, and community partnerships to create an engaging environment for young learners.
The museum offers several exhibits designed to reflect Ventura County’s landscapes and industries.
In the Channel Islands exhibit outdoors, children can excavate replicas of pygmy mammoth bones in a fossil dig, while the agricultural exhibit has an edible garden with berries and herbs showcasing the county’s farming roots.
Inside the STREAM gallery within the museum, children can experiment with building challenges in the makerspace and engineering design lab.
The idea of the museum began as a shared idea among a group of close friends over a kitchen table.
kidSTREAM is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday. The museum is closed on Monday. It will, however, be open on Memorial Day (May 25).
The museum also offers space to host children’s birthday parties.
