An aggressive attack by Ventura County firefighters successfully contained a blaze to a garage on Wednesday evening, preventing it from spreading to the attached two-story home.
The incident was reported around 6:00 p.m. on January 21 in the 100 block of Pepper Road in Thousand Oaks. Arriving crews found smoke showing from the attached garage of a single-family residence.
According to the Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD), firefighters immediately launched an offensive attack and managed to quickly knock down the fire. Their decisive action was crucial in stopping the flames from extending into the main living quarters of the home.
All occupants of the residence had safely evacuated before the fire department’s arrival. As a standard precaution, firefighters conducted a primary search of the structure to confirm everyone was out.
Approximately 40 firefighters responded to the scene. There were no injuries reported among residents or fire personnel.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
