On May 30, 2026, at about 1603 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded along with Emergency Medical Services to an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and bicyclist at Fifth Street east of Harbor Boulevard.
Upon arrival, officers located a 53-year-old male lying on the side of the road along the eastbound lanes of Fifth Street, suffering from major injuries. A black bicycle with significant damage was lying next to the male. The subject succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.
Preliminary investigation revealed the bicyclist was possibly riding eastbound Fifth Street and was struck by an unknown vehicle that was also traveling eastbound. The male rider was ejected from the bicycle and landed on the side of the road.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the collision. It is unknown if impairment contributed to the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
