More than six centuries of public service were recognized this week as the County of Ventura honored 24 employees reaching career milestones of 25 to 35 years. Their combined 660 years of service reflect decades of experience supporting essential programs and services across the county. The recognition took place during the April 14 meeting of the Board of Supervisors.

These employees have contributed to a wide range of services, from supporting families and protecting public health to maintaining infrastructure and ensuring community safety. Their work represents the many functions that operate behind the scenes to serve residents each day. Together, their careers highlight the scope and complexity of services delivered throughout the communities in Ventura County.

“It is an honor to recognize the dedicated service of so many County employees who have devoted decades of their lives to serving our community,” said Chair of the Board Jeff Gorell. “Across Ventura County, these individuals provide the critical services residents rely on every day – from public safety and healthcare to social services, infrastructure, and environmental stewardship. Their professionalism, compassion, and commitment strengthen our communities and improve the quality of life for all who call Ventura County home. We are deeply grateful for their service and proud to recognize their lasting impact.”

This quarter’s honorees represent multiple agencies, including the District Attorney’s Office, Health Care Agency, Human Services Agency, Public Works Agency, Sheriff’s Office, and others. Their roles span emergency response, administrative operations, and technical support and expertise. Several employees marked 30 and 35 years of service, underscoring dedicated careers across departments.

“Behind every County program are individuals whose work makes those services possible,” said County Executive Officer Dr. Sevet Johnson. “Their knowledge and experience strengthen our organization and support continuity across departments. They also play an important role in guiding and mentoring future public servants.”

The County of Ventura’s Employee Continuous Service Recognition Program honors employees in five-year increments beginning at 25 years of service. The program reflects the County’s focus on sustaining a skilled and experienced workforce equipped to meet the changing needs of the community.
