Ventura County Fire Department and Oxnard Fire Department crews battled a structure fire Thursday in the 100 block of Barcelona Street, arriving to find heavy flames and a well-established attic fire.

Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines for an aggressive interior and exterior attack while working to protect neighboring homes from potential spread.

By the latest update, crews reported the majority of the “Barcelona Fire” had been knocked down. Firefighters are continuing to open up the attic and extinguish smoldering hot spots to ensure full extinguishment. Salvage and overhaul operations are underway.

One patient with minor burn injuries was transported to a local hospital. Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.

Authorities did not immediately release additional details.
