On Friday, February 6, 2026, the San Luis Obispo Police Department held a DUI Checkpoint on the 500 block of Marsh.
The checkpoint took place between the hours of 8:00 pm and 1:00 am. 781 drivers were contacted: two drivers were cited for driving without a license, three drivers were subjected to field sobriety tests, and no drivers were arrested for DUI.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
