A tractor rollover that left one person trapped beneath the overturned equipment sparked a vegetation fire in the Cuyama area Wednesday afternoon, prompting a multi-agency response.
The incident was reported around 12:15 p.m. on June 17, 2026, near Highway 166 in Cuyama, according to CAL FIRE San Luis Obispo County Fire.
Firefighters from CAL FIRE/San Luis Obispo County Fire, Santa Barbara County Fire, and the Los Padres National Forest responded to the scene. Crews faced the dual challenge of working to address the trapped individual while simultaneously containing the vegetation fire ignited by the overturned tractor.
The fire was contained to approximately 0.5 acres.
By 2:15 p.m., CAL FIRE reported that forward progress on the fire had been stopped.
The condition of the person who was trapped beneath the tractor has not been released.
