The San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office is investigating threats made to Nipomo High School in Nipomo on Tuesday, December 9.
At 12:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office issued an alert stating they are actively investigating a threat made against the school.
“There is no danger to staff or students at this time. Deputies are on scene. More information to follow,” the Sheriff’s Office stated.
At 1:45 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office provided an update stating the investigation is ongoing, but at this time all indications are that the threat was not malicious and may have been the result of a prank.
Witnesses claim they heard a probable student on the school intercom system state “school shooter.” The Lucia Mar Unified School District immediately placed Nipomo High School on lockdown and called authorities.
The investigation continues.
