The restaurant opened in 2008, according to its Yelp page, and currently holds a 4.4-star rating.
SLO Public Market has also confirmed the arrival of Goshi on its website.
According to the website, the Japanese restaurant will offer an extensive menu prepared with fresh ingredients by trained chefs. Goshi also makes its own sauces and offers a selection of traditional starters.
The official opening date for Goshi has not been announced yet.
This will be Goshi’s second location in San Luis Obispo, following its store at The Creamery Marketplace at 570 Higuera Street.
About the SLO Public Market
According to the market’s website, lumber businessman John Harford purchased roughly 80 acres in the 1880s for his home and ranch, a property that later became known as the Long-Bonetti Ranch and now houses SLO Public Market.
While living on the ranch, Harford built what is now known as the Harford Pier in Avila Beach to offload imported cargo. He also developed a narrow-gauge railroad to transport passengers and goods into town.
These infrastructure projects helped transform San Luis Obispo into a regional marketplace, according to the website.
Between 1880 and 1923, the property passed through the ownership of Joseph D. Grant and George W. Long, both of whom made notable changes to the ranch. In 1923, the Long family sold the property to Florino Bonetti.
Today, SLO Public Market incorporates restored historic structures including the farmhouse, barn, water tower, and granary. The property spans 4.18 acres, with 48,242 square feet dedicated to the Market Hall and surrounding shops.
The site includes a total of eight buildings, blending renovated historic structures with four newer buildings that house restaurants, retail shops, a market hall, and a brewery.
