Night Street Improvements are Continuing Near S. Higuera and High Streets This Week.
Check out what we have going on in the upcoming weeks as we continue to make progress on our ongoing neighborhood enhancement projects aimed at making our city safer, more accessible, and better connected.

Work to upgrade and add more safety improvements to key streets and intersections is still underway.
- Various locations: We expect to continue street and sidewalk repairs throughout the City in areas where we completed utility work. To minimize traffic impacts during the day, we anticipate continuing this work at night on Santa Rosa Street & Foothill Boulevard as well as S. Higuera & High Streets. Commuters can expect traffic delays, rolling traffic, and lane shifting as construction crews work in each area.
- South Higuera & Vachell Lane: We expect to begin night paving work at the intersection of Vachell Lane & S. Higuera Street to repair the surface of the road as early as the beginning of next week for about a week. The work is expected to take place from 9 p.m. – 7 a.m. Commuters can expect traffic delays due to lane closures and bike lane closures in the area.

Work to upgrade vital groundwork to enhance the reliability, capacity, and safety of our water and sewer system is underway. See what areas we’re working on below.

Mission Plaza Enhancement: Finishing touches like landscaping work and small outstanding items are continuing for the project at the Mission Plaza. The new restrooms are open to the public. Commuters can expect minor traffic delays and intermittent flagging due to trucks moving in and out of the area for concrete work of the kiosk patio. Pedestrians can expect sidewalk closures with detours.

Please keep an eye out for orange cones and active construction sites and remember to:
Allow Extra Travel Time: Due to ongoing construction, it’s a good idea to allow for extra travel time when navigating these areas.
Slow Down for Construction Crews: Remember to reduce your speed and exercise caution when driving through construction zones. Our dedicated crews are working diligently to make San Luis Obispo safer for everyone.
While exact schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unplanned conditions, the City of San Luis Obispo is committed to keeping the community informed as construction progresses. Your support and patience have been invaluable as we work to enhance the transportation options in San Luis Obispo. Thank you!
