Street & Sidewalk Improvements are Expected to Begin Throughout the City.

Check out what we have going on in the upcoming weeks as we continue to make progress on our ongoing neighborhood enhancement projects aimed at making our city safer, more accessible, and better connected.

Work to upgrade and add more safety improvements to key streets and intersections is still underway.

  • South Higuera Street & Orcutt Road: We expect to pause work in this area for about a week. Once work resumes, we expect to begin installing signs at the intersections of S. Higuera Street and Suburban Road as well as Orcutt Road and Sacramento Drive/Duncan Road.
  • Various locations: We expect to begin street and sidewalk repairs throughout the City in areas where we completed utility work. Commuters can expect traffic delays, rolling traffic, and lane shifting as construction crews work in each area. To minimize traffic delays during the day, we anticipate doing some of this work at night towards the end of the week.

Work to upgrade vital groundwork to enhance the reliability, capacity, and safety of our water and sewer system is underway. See what areas we’re working on below.

Higuera Street: We expect to continue installing monitoring wells for the next couple of months at different locations on Higuera Street from Los Osos Valley Road to High Street to help track the condition of the City’s groundwater. Initial work includes drilling the holes to later install the rigs. Commuters can expect minor traffic delays due to no parking in the areas and shoulder closures.

Righetti Community Park: We’ll be continuing on-site foundational work such as grading. Construction for the Community Park will occur in phases and community members can expect typical construction noise, along with vehicles and equipment moving in and out of the area. Pedestrians can expect sidewalk closures with detours. Standard construction hours will be 7 a.m.– 4 p.m.

Mission Plaza Enhancement: Work is almost complete at the Mission Plaza, and the new restrooms are now open to the public. The remainder of the work includes finishing touches like landscaping work and small outstanding items for the project. Commuters can expect little to no traffic delays in the area. Pedestrians can now access the sidewalk in the area with little to no detours.

Please keep an eye out for orange cones and active construction sites and remember to:
