Check out what we have going on in the upcoming weeks as we continue to make progress on our ongoing neighborhood enhancement projects aimed at making our city safer, more accessible, and better connected.

Work to upgrade and add more safety improvements to key streets and intersections is still underway.
- Tank Farm Road: We expect to continue night paving work from Broad Street to Poinsettia Street from 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. We anticipate starting temporary striping as early as next week to get ready for permanent striping. We’ll be working on one side of the road at a time and will maintain traffic flowing in two directions. Commuters can expect traffic delays due to flagging, lane closures and shifting. Please drive carefully through the work zone, plan for extra travel time, take alternative routes, and share this information with your neighbors.
- Higuera Street: We expect to begin landscape improvements as early as next week in the parking lot located on the corner of Higuera and Nipomo Streets (Old SLO BBQ) for a couple of days from 6 a.m. – 4 p.m. During this work, the community can expect a partial parking lot closure.

We plan to begin striping renewal work in the following areas:
- San Luis Drive & Foothill Boulevard: On San Luis Drive from California Boulevard to Johnson Avenue as well as Foothill Boulevard from California Boulevard to Casa Street as early as next week. Commuters can expect intermittent lane closures and lane shifting in the areas.
-
Marsh Street Bridge: To minimize traffic delays during the day, we plan to do striping work on Marsh Street Bridge during the night from 10 p.m. – 5 a.m. as early as Thursday next week. Commuters can expect a full closure of the Marsh Street Bridge with detours set up on Highway 101 and Higuera Street.

Work will be continuing on-site for the Mission Plaza Enhancement Project. Commuters can expect traffic delays due to a road closure with detours, flagging, and

We are continuing general and safety signage work on Palm, Nipomo, and Monterey Streets as part of the Cultural Arts District Parking Garage. During work Palm, Nipomo, and Monterey Streets are expected to be open, and commuters can still expect minor traffic delays due to intermittent flagging and lane shifting.

- Street and sidewalk repairs throughout the City where recent utility work was completed
- Electrical work at the intersection of South & King Streets
Please keep an eye out for orange cones and active construction sites and remember to:
Allow Extra Travel Time: Due to ongoing construction, it’s a good idea to allow for extra travel time when navigating these areas.
Slow Down for Construction Crews: Remember to reduce your speed and exercise caution when driving through construction zones. Our dedicated crews are working diligently to make San Luis Obispo safer for everyone.
While exact schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unplanned conditions, the City of San Luis Obispo is committed to keeping the community informed as construction progresses. Your support and patience have been invaluable as we work to enhance the transportation options in San Luis Obispo. Thank you!
