Pavement and Striping are Complete on Tank Farm Road
Check out what we have going on in the upcoming weeks as we continue to make progress on our ongoing neighborhood enhancement projects aimed at making our city safer, more accessible, and better connected.
Completed Work
The Cultural Arts Parking Garage is complete! The new public parking garage is located at 609 Palm Street, on the corner of Nipomo and Palm Streets, and adds nearly 400 parking spaces, 41 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, 14 bike lockers and 16 bike parking spaces to support downtown businesses, cultural venues, residents and visitors 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to stop by and park in the garage at no cost during its first 28 days of operation (until April 13, 2026).

Work to upgrade and add more safety improvements to key streets and intersections is still underway.
-
- Tank Farm Road: We’ve completed paving, striping, and installing pedestrian flashing beacons on Tank Farm. We expect to clean and add finishing touches throughout entire area of the project. Commuters can expect very minor traffic delays due to lane shifting.
- South & King Intersection: We expect to begin electrical work at the intersection of South & King Streets to get the area ready for a new and highly visible Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon crosswalk sign.
Electrical work is expected to take only a week and once complete, work will pause for several months until supplies arrive. During the electrical work commuters can expect a bike lane closure and pedestrians can expect a small sidewalk detour. Please drive carefully and share the road in the area.

Please keep an eye out for orange cones and active construction sites and remember to:
Allow Extra Travel Time: Due to ongoing construction, it’s a good idea to allow for extra travel time when navigating these areas.
Slow Down for Construction Crews: Remember to reduce your speed and exercise caution when driving through construction zones. Our dedicated crews are working diligently to make San Luis Obispo safer for everyone.
While exact schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unplanned conditions, the City of San Luis Obispo is committed to keeping the community informed as construction progresses. Your support and patience have been invaluable as we work to enhance the transportation options in San Luis Obispo. Thank you!
