Construction Continues on Several City Infrastructure and Park Improvement Projects.
Here’s a look at the work planned for the coming weeks as we continue improving neighborhoods across the city with projects that enhance safety, accessibility, and connectivity.
Work to upgrade vital infrastructure and enhance the reliability, capacity, and safety of our water and sewer system is underway. See what areas we’re working on below.
Higuera Street: We expect to continue well development activities associated with the City’s groundwater monitoring program. Current work has moved to the rear of the wharf property and is no longer occurring within the public right-of-way. Commuters can expect minor traffic delays due to no parking in the areas, shoulder closures, and occasional flagging. Residents will continue to have access to roads and homes.
Monitoring well work is occurring at various locations along Higuera Street from Los Osos Valley Road to High Street to help track the condition of the City’s groundwater.
Righetti Community Park: We’ll be continuing on-site foundational work such as grading and walls. Work on the restroom has started with installation of utilities and foundations.
Community members can expect minor traffic delays due to flagging as well as construction noise, along with vehicles and equipment moving in and out of the area. Pedestrians can expect sidewalk closures with detours. Standard construction hours will be 7 a.m.– 4 p.m.
Mission Plaza Enhancement: Construction crews are completing the final details of the Mission Plaza project. Little to no traffic delays are expected, and sidewalks will remain open for pedestrians. Construction fencing will stay in place while the future kiosk tenant completes improvements to prepare the space for occupancy.

Allow Extra Travel Time: Due to ongoing construction, it’s a good idea to allow for extra travel time when navigating these areas.
Slow Down for Construction Crews: Remember to reduce your speed and exercise caution when driving through construction zones. Our dedicated crews are working diligently to make San Luis Obispo safer for everyone.
