Monitoring Well Work is Continuing on Higuera Street From LOVR to High St.
Check out what we have going on in the upcoming weeks as we continue to make progress on our ongoing neighborhood enhancement projects aimed at making our city safer, more accessible, and better connected.
Work to upgrade vital groundwork to enhance the reliability, capacity, and safety of our water and sewer system is underway. See what areas we’re working on below.
Higuera Street: We expect to begin well development as early as next week starting with the well at Walker and High Streets. Well development will include clearing/flushing of the wells until we get clean ground water. We also expect to begin storm drain repair work near the Mariposa Drive and Las Praderas Drive well site. Commuters can expect minor traffic delays due to no parking in the areas, shoulder closures, and occasional flagging in the areas. Residents will still have access to the roads and their homes.
Monitoring well work is happening in different locations on Higuera Street from Los Osos Valley Road to High Street to help track the condition of the City’s groundwater.
Righetti Community Park: We’ll be continuing on-site foundational work such as grading and also expect to begin retaining wall work for the pickleball courts. We also expect to begin utility work on Tiburon Way near the Ranch House Road roundabout. Community members can expect minor traffic delays due to flagging as well as construction noise, along with vehicles and equipment moving in and out of the area. Pedestrians can expect sidewalk closures with detours. Standard construction hours will be 7 a.m.– 4 p.m.
Mission Plaza Enhancement: Finishing touches like landscaping work and small outstanding items are continuing for the project at the Mission Plaza. Commuters can expect little to no traffic delays in the project area. Pedestrians will have sidewalk access.

Allow Extra Travel Time: Due to ongoing construction, it’s a good idea to allow for extra travel time when navigating these areas.
Slow Down for Construction Crews: Remember to reduce your speed and exercise caution when driving through construction zones. Our dedicated crews are working diligently to make San Luis Obispo safer for everyone.
