Traffic Signal Work is Continuing on S. Higuera and Suburban

Check out what we have going on in the upcoming weeks as we continue to make progress on our ongoing neighborhood enhancement projects aimed at making our city safer, more accessible, and better connected.

Work to upgrade and add more safety improvements to key streets and intersections is still underway.

South Higuera Street: We expect to continue traffic signal updates at the intersection of S. Higuera Street and Suburban Road for a few weeks. Commuters can expect lane closures, lane shifting, and a flashing signal in the area from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Once signal work is completed in this area, we anticipate starting similar work at the intersection of Orcutt Road and Duncan Road/Sacramento Drive.

Righetti Community Park: We’ll be doing sidewalk and gutter demolition outside of the Righetti Community Park site on Tiburon Way. Crews are also expected to be on-site to start foundational work such as grading. Construction for the Community Park will occur in phases and community members can expect typical construction noise, along with vehicles and equipment moving in and out of the area. Pedestrians can expect sidewalk closures with detours. Standard construction hours will be 7 a.m.– 4 p.m.

Mission Plaza Enhancement: Work will be continuing on-site for the Mission Plaza Enhancement Project. Commuters can expect traffic delays due to a road closure with detours, flagging, and construction trucks entering and leaving the area. Pedestrians can now access the sidewalk near the construction but can expect intermittent detours.

While exact schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unplanned conditions, the City of San Luis Obispo is committed to keeping the community informed as construction progresses. Your support and patience have been invaluable as we work to enhance the transportation options in San Luis Obispo. Thank you!
