Traffic Signal Work is Continuing on S. Higuera and Suburban.

Check out what we have going on in the upcoming weeks as we continue to make progress on our ongoing neighborhood enhancement projects aimed at making our city safer, more accessible, and better connected.
Work to upgrade and add more safety improvements to key streets and intersections is still underway.

  • South Higuera Street & Orcutt Road: We expect to continue traffic signal updates and installing signs at the intersections of S. Higuera Street and Suburban Road as well as Orcutt Road and Sacramento Drive/Duncan Road. Commuters can expect lane closures, lane shifting, and a flashing signal in the area from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m.

  • South Street: We expect to continue electrical work at the intersection of South & King Streets to set up an electrical meter for a new and highly visible Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon crosswalk sign. Electrical work is expected to take only a week and once complete, work will pause for several months until supplies arrive. During the electrical work commuters can expect a bike lane closure and pedestrians can expect a small sidewalk detour. Please drive carefully and share the road in the area.
Work to upgrade vital groundwork to enhance the reliability, capacity, and safety of our water and sewer system is underway. See what areas we’re working on below.

Higuera Street: We expect to begin installing monitoring wells for the next couple of months at different locations on Higuera Street from Los Osos Valley Road to High Street to help track the condition of the City’s groundwater. Initial work includes drilling the holes to later install the rigs. Commuters can expect minor traffic delays due to no parking in the areas and shoulder closures.

Righetti Community Park: We’ll be continuing sidewalk and gutter demolition outside of the Righetti Community Park site on Tiburon Way. Crews are also expected to continue being on-site to continue foundational work such as grading. Construction for the Community Park will occur in phases and community members can expect typical construction noise, along with vehicles and equipment moving in and out of the area. Pedestrians can expect sidewalk closures with detours. Standard construction hours will be 7 a.m.– 4 p.m.

Mission Plaza Enhancement: Work will be continuing on-site for the Mission Plaza Enhancement Project. Commuters can expect traffic delays due to a road closure with detours, flagging, and construction trucks entering and leaving the area. Pedestrians can now access the sidewalk near the construction but can expect intermittent detours.

Please keep an eye out for orange cones and active construction sites and remember to:
