Drivers traveling through Geneseo Road in Paso Robles should be prepared for delays from December 9, 2025, as the road undergoes repairs, the County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works announced on December 5, 2025.
The area of the road scheduled for maintenance stretches along Geneseo Road south of its intersection with Ground Squirrel Hollow Road.
The public works department will continue the repairs roughly 1 mile north to a point east of the sharp corner on Geneseo Road.

The project will begin on December 9 and continue through December 12, 2025, according to the statement. Crews will be working between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
To ensure the safety of the public and work crews, traffic control will be in place, which may cause delays of up to 20 minutes during construction, the public works department said.
The department advised drivers to adjust their travel plans and time accordingly and to consider alternative routes to avoid congestion.
Other Road Maintenance and Repair Projects
The public works department has been engaged in other road repair and maintenance projects across San Luis Obispo County.
In November 2025, the department announced that it would repair several damaged sections of Santa Rita Road from November 17 through December 5, 2025.
The department said it would repair damage caused by the severe winter storms of January 2023. The County is currently working on 14 major infrastructure projects as part of the broader effort to repair the damage caused by the storms.
The 25-year storm brought the second-highest rainfall total in 152 years in San Luis Obispo.
The department identified over 200 public sites that were damaged by the storm and has since stabilized areas that are vulnerable to future storms.
As of August 2024, roughly 90% of the identified damage had been repaired, according to the City of San Luis Obispo.
In October 2025, the department announced it would begin paving roads throughout the county from October 26 through December 18, 2025. Paving will take place in Los Berros, Nipomo, and Pismo Beach.
Crews will remove the existing road striping and replace it with temporary markings before paving and permanent striping. The project will add a two-inch layer of asphalt to improve road quality and prolong road life.
The department anticipated the project to cause minor traffic delays.
San Luis Obispo County maintains around 1,100 miles of paved roads. Road paving is essential to support infrastructure and improve safety, especially in the wake of the 2023 storms.
