Community Members Are Invited To Share Their Transportation Experiences And Future Priorities To Help Shape Improvements To Foothill Boulevard.
Do you regularly travel along Foothill Boulevard and want to see improvements?
The City of San Luis Obispo is gathering community input to support efforts to improve safety, accessibility, and comfort along Foothill Boulevard.
Over the next few months, community members can share their experiences and priorities via a survey, community workshop, and neighborhood pop-ups. Your feedback will help decide what improvements are needed most and help shape early design ideas that we’ll share later this year.
PUBLIC INPUT OPPORTUNITIES
- Take the Online Survey: If you walk, bike, drive, or take transit along Foothill Boulevard, please visit www.slocity.org/OpenCityHall and take the Foothill survey, which will remain open for eight weeks.
In-Person Events: In addition to the survey, the City will provide other public input opportunities via an upcoming community workshop and pop-up events in the Foothill Boulevard area. Dates and specific locations are still being finalized and will be announced soon, with details posted to the Foothill Complete Streets Project webpage.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The goal of the Foothill Complete Streets Project is to improve safety and accessibility for everyone who uses the street, whether walking, biking, driving, or riding the bus. The project will include upgrades along Foothill Boulevard from the City limits near the Bishop Peak trailhead to the railroad tracks near California Boulevard. The project aims to improve safety along key routes to Cal Poly, K–12 schools, parks, neighborhoods, and essential services. Improving safety is a primary goal of this project. Since 2017, three people walking or biking have been killed on this stretch of road, and many others have been seriously hurt. Because of these incidents and safety concerns shared by community members, the City has identified Foothill Boulevard as a high priority for improvements. This project is an important step toward making the road safer for everyone and helping the City meet its climate and sustainable transportation goals.
