Save the Date: May 12 Community Meeting on Election Change

You’re Invited to Attend the First in-Person Community Meeting Dedicated to Understanding an Upcoming Change to Council Member Elections.

Community members interested in how Council Member elections are changing this year are invited to attend an upcoming community meeting.

The City of San Luis Obispo will host an in-person community meeting on Citywide Single Vote, the new way of electing Council Members, in one month.

 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.

Attendees will learn: 

• What is and is not changing
• Why the City made this change
• How to stay informed and make your vote count

Space is limited! Register early to save your seat. Anyone who registers in advance is guaranteed a spot. Please register by May 11 at 5 p.m.

About Citywide Single Vote Education
For the first time, voters will choose one Council Member candidate instead of two. The top two candidates will still win. The City has begun a significant outreach effort to help people understand the change to Citywide Single Vote before the November election. The City is sharing clear, simple information through meetings, mailers, and online information. This community meeting is one of six planned through November. The City will also host information booths at local events and in neighborhoods, visit community groups and organizations to present information, and work with trusted community leaders to help get the word out. Information will be offered in English and Spanish to make sure every voter knows what’s changing, why it matters, and how to fill out their ballot correctly
