Nipomo Prepares to Welcome This Brand New Sandwich Shop

Gilligan’s Sandwich Shop has officially opened a new location in Nipomo, near San Luis Obispo.

The Nipomo location will celebrate its grand opening this Saturday, offering giveaways, food specials, and soda promotions for visitors throughout the day.

The shop is located at 671 W. Tefft Street, and the grand opening will run from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Nipomo store will operate under the name Gilligan’s Sandwich Shop & Twisted Sodas.

The Nipomo location is the second store for Gilligan’s in the San Luis Obispo County area.

The locally owned shop is operated by Andy and Shannon Zepeda, who are expanding their popular Morro Bay sandwiches to the Nipomo community.

Prior to the grand opening, the store held a soft opening starting December 8, 2025, lasting one week. During this period, the team introduced their concept to the community by serving sandwiches, sodas, and Twisted Sodas.

The soft opening helped prepare the community for the store’s official launch.

Gilligan’s Sandwich Shop first opened in Morro Bay in 2022 and continues to operate at its primary location, 480 Morro Bay Blvd. In May 2024, the Morro Bay store celebrated its second anniversary with the community.

The Nipomo location continues the tradition of serving Twisted Sodas, honoring the vision of creator Helen Russell.

The menu features sandwiches, soups, drinks, and salads. Signature clubs include the Club Sub, Italian Sub, BLAT, and Veggie Sub. Other sandwiches include the Killer Pastrami, Roast Beef Dip, Philly Cheesesteak, and Hot Meatball with sauce.

The shop also offers a variety of melts, such as tuna and turkey melts. Customers can create their own subs or choose from hot dogs and pizzas made with homemade sauce.

Andy, Shannon, and Jay Zepeda said they look forward to joining the Nipomo community and hope to engage with residents while supporting local activities.

In addition to food and drinks, Gilligan’s offers merchandise, including T-shirts featuring their Killer Pastrami branding.
