Firefighters quickly corralled a vegetation fire east of San Miguel on Wednesday, containing the blaze after it threatened multiple structures near the 6000 block of Hog Canyon Road, according to CAL FIRE/San Luis Obispo County Fire.
The Hog Fire was reported Wednesday, April 29, and initially estimated at roughly 3 acres with multiple structures at risk. By 3:30 p.m., crews had stopped the fire’s forward progress and reached 50% containment.
Containment climbed to 75% by 4:00 p.m., with a two-hour resource commitment time noted by incident officials. At 4:40 p.m., firefighters reported the threat to nearby structures had been mitigated.
By 5:40 p.m., the fire was declared 100% contained. Updated mapping placed the final size at 8.8 acres.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
