Gas Prices to Dip During Christmas
The downward trend in gas prices is expected to continue in the holiday season.
Gas prices are projected to dip to its lowest level since 2020, according to GasBuddy. This comes as a holiday treat for people planning to drive during the holiday season.
The national average on Christmas Day is expected to stay near $2.79 per gallon, below last year’s price of $3, GasBuddy said in the statement. This will help motorists save more than half a billion dollars during the Christmas week compared to last year.
“Christmas is often when gas prices settle near the lowest levels of the year, and 2025 is no exception,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
The dip in gas prices comes as refinery maintenance winds down and gasoline supplies increase, easing some of the pressure that usually builds earlier in the year, GasBuddy said. Additionally, OPEC has been increasing oil production almost through this year, leading to crude prices to drop to multi-year lows ahead of Christmas.
Despite Americans’ plan to travel this winter, demand for gasoline during winter is far lower than in the summer, which helps to control prices, according to GasBuddy.
Unexpected refinery crises or international tensions can still cause volatility, but the overall outlook this Christmas remains favorable for drivers than it was when the economy was reopening following the pandemic, GasBuddy added.

Gas prices down, so keep freaking out? Bozo. Just find a decent candidate next time around, will ya? TDS is so sad.
No serious person says “TDS” … it’s a marker of profoundly dishonest trash.
BASIC – cool, insults from a liar. Worth their weight in pig slop. I’d be embarrassed to say “TDS” if I was someone who constantly cries about Biden, Newsom and Obama and blames liberals for everything while they gush over a fascist rapist and convicted fraud.
Like I’ve said before, “TDS” is basically saying, “I’m a silly hypocrite and am happy to confirm my lack of knowledge and/or actual support of evil, as EVERY person with a brain knows how absurd it is to dismiss the nation’s opposition to mindess cruelty, racism, hatred and fascism as ‘TDS’.”
Keep saying it though. It makes you look super smart!
