Two dogs were rescued safely from an apartment fire that was reported Thursday evening in Paso Robles after. The fire was identified as a residential fire and was reported at 1134 Black Oak Drive in Paso Robles.
Crews were dispatched to the location at around 7:52 p.m. and stayed there till 9:44 p.m., according to the Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services.
Multiple calls were made to the fire department about the blaze quickly escalating into a fully involved structure fire, according to Paso Robles Daily News.
Upon arrival, firefighters did not encounter any smoke or fire, but noted an active sprinkler system inside the building. The sprinkler system was activated on the first floor of the building, indicating a fire activity.
Later, the firefighters confirmed the fire and contained it. During their search of the building, crews found two dogs inside a bathroom. Both animals were rescued with no injuries recorded. The canines were handed over to the Paso Robles Police Department until their owners could be located.
According to Paso Robles Daily News, multiple units were present at the incident location, including Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services’ two engines, one truck, one squad unit, and one battalion chief.
In total, 12 crew members responded to the incident, with the Paso Robles Police Department also assisting at the scene.
It took over an hour and 52 minutes for the firefighters to complete their activities on the scene. They helped to remove water and save belongings of the residents.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
According to the U.S. Fire Administration, the use of the sprinklers is critical in minimizing the extent of the damage caused by the fire. The sprinkler system is intended to sense heat and respond fast since they can be helpful in controlling the fire.
The fire administration gives advice concerning the significance of fire safety in residential areas.
A fire sprinkler system together with the smoke detector lowers the chances of fatalities in the event of a fire by 82% according to the fire administration.
