E-Biker Seriously Injured in SLO Vehicle Collision

Type of Incident: Vehicle vs. Bicycle Traffic Collision 
Date And Time of Incident: Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 3:47 pm 
Place of Occurrence: Intersection of Broad Street and Branch Street, San Luis Obispo 
Victim Information: Adult male, 56 years of age 

On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at approximately 3:47 pm, the San Luis Obispo Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a traffic collision involving a vehicle and an electric bicycle near the intersection of Broad Street and South Street. 

Upon arrival, officers located a 56-year-old male in the southbound lane of Broad Street at the intersection of Branch Street. San Luis Obispo Fire Department provided emergency medical care to the injured bicyclist. The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet and sustained severe head trauma. He was transported to a local hospital for care.  

The driver of a Subaru Outback, a 29-year-old female, remained on scene and was cooperative throughout the investigation. Impairment from drugs or alcohol is not suspected as a factor in this collision.  

Due to the severity of the incident, the Severe Collision Investigative Detail (SCID) responded to assume the investigation. During the investigation, northbound and southbound lanes of Broad Street between Chorro Street and South Street were temporarily closed. All lanes of traffic were reopened at approximately 7:20 pm on Tuesday.  

The collision remains under active investigation.
