A luxury outdoor hospitality concept is coming to San Luis Obispo to offer a new experience at the Dairy Creek Golf Course.

Nightsky Camps, an Australian hospitality company, will repurpose a section of the golf course to open 45 “eco-tents” this summer, according to the company’s website.

Designed as a regenerative project, the company is taking over the land, which earlier housed nine unused golf holes, according to a report by The Tribune

The “glamping resort” at Dairy Creek is Nightsky’s first flagship hospitality project, the news report said.

A mix of ‘glamor’ and ‘camping,’ glamping is a luxurious take on traditional camping, with hospitality companies offering safari tents, pods, or treehouses with boutique hotel-type amenities. These usually include comfortable beds, linens, electricity, ensuite bathrooms, and heating or air conditioning.

Located close to San Luis Obispo city, Nightsky’s resort is surrounded by coastal hills and scenic natural beauty.

The resort is designed to offer travelers a luxury camping experience, along with wellness facilities and adventure activities at the same destination, the company shared on its website

Each luxury tent will feature modern luxury amenities, such as king-sized beds, warm wood interiors, custom furniture, local artisan decor, a mini fridge, ensuite bathrooms, and private decks.

The property will also have shared spaces, including a restaurant, communal fire pits, and a wellness area with yoga, guided meditation, cold plunges, and sauna.

The project has been designed using low-impact site planning to preserve the landscape, and uses energy-efficient lights with dark-sky considerations, Nightsky said.

The luxury retreat also utilizes smart water usage and conservation practices throughout the property.

In an effort to optimize natural resources, Nightsky said it is dedicated to reducing single-use plastics and using eco-friendly cleaning materials. The property will have linen and towel programs designed to conserve water and energy.

In addition to its upcoming San Luis Obispo location, Nightsky is working on more destinations that are easily accessible from major cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, The Tribune said.

Prior to opening the luxury camps, Nightsky had opened its restaurant, Marcerro, at the Dairy Creek Golf Course. The restaurant specializes in coastal cuisine, inspired by California’s seasonal and local ingredients.

Nightsky will be contributing a share of its revenue from the location to San Luis Obispo County as rent, according to The Tribune. The entire project is funded by the hospitality company.

Opened in 1997, Dairy Creek was formerly an 18-hole golf course. However, water shortages forced the county to decommission nine of the holes and repurpose the land for a purpose that would benefit the community and generate income for the county, according to The Tribune.
