CAL FIRE/San Luis Obispo County Fire crews responded to a vegetation fire around 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, in the 4300 block of La Panza Road in Creston, where flames were burning in a vineyard.

Initial estimates put the fire at approximately 1 acre as units arrived and worked to contain the blaze.

By 1:45 p.m., officials reported forward progress had been stopped, with the fire size revised to an estimated 2 to 4 acres.

Crews anticipated a 2- to 3-hour commitment time to secure the area.

Authorities asked the public to avoid the area and watch for emergency personnel and equipment.
