On Monday January 12, 2026 at 8:24 AM San Luis Obispo City Fire crews received a report of a fire inside of 3825 South Higuera St., a 10,000 square feet commercial property. Upon arrival, crews observed smoke coming from the building initiated a full response from SLOFD, CalFire, Five Cities, and Morro Bay Fire Departments.
The business initiated pre-planned emergency evacuation of their staff and there were no reported injuries. Additionally, there were no threats to surrounding homes or businesses and South Higuera remained open for the duration of the incident.
The fire was contained to the bottom floor and subsequently declared knocked down at 9:12 AM. Crews will remain on scene for ventilation and to ensure the fire remains extinguished.
The San Luis Obispo Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. Further information will be released at a later date.
