Sirens on Hitchcock
updated: Jan 15, 2016, 3:30 PM

By Edhat Subscriber

What's up with all the sirens near State and Hitchcock? I've been hearing multiple sirens for at least 5 minutes straight now.

Any news?

Isn't there an EMT app that identifies every emergency response call in your vicinity?

It doesn't give you complete details of what's going on (but then neither does a scanner) but it does identify the type of call going out. It sounds like is should be on the Xmas list (or wishlist) of everyone who wants to know what is going on with every siren they hear going by.

579, not everyone has a smartphone! No smartphone, no apps.

The app is called cops. It's free with an in app purchase. So far not impressed.

BULLSEYE ... please go easy on the snark. I don't even have a cell phone so I'm entirely conscious of the fact not everyone is born with a smartphone embedded in their hand. ;-)

But I will tell you that when I found a large enough number of apps I could not live without for what I do I purchased a handheld device for those apps. It's a matter of choice... if it's important enough a person can choose something new and do things differently.

624P... yeah, I'm not sure if that's the one or not. A friend was using it at lunch a few weeks ago when sirens went by and he was able to announce almost immediately that it was a medical vs. a fire. As a trained EMT he has used it to offer assistance until the pros arrived. I don't think it includes law enforcement calls.

Are you still hearing them?

I found no snark in Bullseye's comment.

Are you the snark police?
