Agree SacJon. Also I don't always want my neighbors knowing my business and some of them are really annoying and unpleasant. Edhat casts a wider community net.
Talk to your landlord before you spend money on a deep clean that could be wasted money. Not all, but many landlords want a place in "broom clean condition" and they'll use their own team to do a deep cleaning after you're out. They'll take the expense out of your cleaning deposit. You'll get dinged twice in this case.
Or do what I did - asked my landlord who he used and if I could prove I used them, would he accept that. He did and he was able to turn my apartment that much faster.
I agree ask you landlord. The past two places here in SB my daughter has moved out of we had cleaned and yet her cleaning deposit was never returned in near the amount it should have been. I also agree that not everyone has next door. It a gossip noisy forum.
Landlady here:
ask for a check out list, so there is no confusion with the landlord.
I use Sylvia's Cleaning. Ask for deep cleaning. Afterwards, take pictures for your records and to end any dispute re: cleanliness.
I used Master Care. They also did the carpets. I had a small one bedroom apartment and they charged $300. I left it in nearly perfectly clean condition. I felt that was much too expensive. They were a bit late arriving, but the service was polite.
