I am wondering if there is a mobile vet in Santa Barbara? My old 17 year old cat has lived out his life and its  sadly time to euthanize him. I called the Cat Doctors and they are booked for 2 weeks. Cat and Bird Clinic doesn't have a vet available today. There is a mobile vet but they are not in the area today. I am hitting a brick wall. Does anyone know of a mobile vet, as I would prefer not having to traumatize my cat with a car ride, which he hates. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Who was the unavailable mobile vet? Tiffany Margg???? out of summerland 350-1399? Maybe Dr. Ruth of Orcutt in the area? I'm drawing at straws cause i've been there. widen your search...I called my equine vet and he led me to a canine clinic that had a in house vet starting a mobile vet business in the dr.'s off hours. Holding you close.

So sorry about your cat - can’t say we’ve ever been fortunate enough to have one live as long as yours. Our beloved cats & dogs never seem to live long enough, no matter the number of years. It’s so sad to lose each and every one but we always jump right back in because we cannot bear to have our home empty of furry family members for long. Sadly, the sweet housecall vet we used for one of our Labs has passed away. Dr. Cassaus of White’s came to our home in around 2000 for another dog. I don’t know who is providing this special service these days. I hope you find someone soon. Your kitty is lucky to have you keeping him safe & comfortable at home. Sending my condolences.

I have no idea if she is still doing so, but Dr Janice Garrett (805 899 2944) came to our home about 7 years ago to relieve our ancient and ill kitty from her suffering. She was compassionate and understood completely how difficult the process was on us all. I'd at least give her a try. Good luck, and I'm so sorry. This is the time all of us with furry companions dread.

I'd just like to say here that even planning ahead on which Vet you would like to come to your home for such euthanization does not guarantee that a certain Vet will be available right when you need him/her. I suggest to one and all that they have a plan AND a back up plan for when the time comes to ease your pet into the Great Beyond.

Wow, plan-ahead person, even we humans don't have a back-up doc, aside from ER. Sadly, they do not perform euthanasia.

My thoughts are with you. Been there. You've gotten wonderful referrals. It's VERY expensive, but if you're very stressed and if the cat is in pain, there's always the emergency vets, CARE and VCA. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I did one of my cats poorly, but she had meds and fluids her last night. I wanted one more night... She was comatose on my bed til next morning when we completed the death. I get it, wish I'd done it the night before, but she was at peace. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please let us know, we're with you. Call every referral that's new to you. Blessings.
