Do edhat readers know of any early kid-friendly New Year's Eve celebrations in town? Something in the afternoon or early evening for all ages?

Kid-Friendly New Year's Eve Fun?

They could do what I and my sisters did. We were told we could stay up to midnight if we could. So we sat by the radio and listened to the programs coming in. Never heard the midnight bells toll! But never expected someone to find us entertainment or party or whatever.

Do New Years's Eve on NY time! Nine o'clock here is midnight there. This works well with Larks (the opposite of Night Owls), the elderly and kids. Eat festive meal sans deserts @ 4, relax with sitdown games or swapping this year's stories, eat deserts or adults get choice of hootch w/nibbles and kids get festive lemonade or hot chocolate made fancy with peppermint canes, maraschino cherries, umbrellas whatever. When the ball goes down on Times Square, adults get champayne, sparkling martinelli's apple cider (maybe in champagne glasses if you're using disposables or plastic for kids). Some hugs, a little shouting and noise making and off to home/bed. (Kissing is allowed but not to be <foisted. on kids even by Aunt Shelly.)
