Incident: Pedestrian Struck by Train
Location: Railroad Tracks East of Seaward Avenue
Date/Time Occurred: 7/7/25 @ 1722 hours
On July 7, 2025, at 1722 hours, the Ventura Police Department received a report of a pedestrian struck by a train on the railroad overcrossing east of Seaward Avenue. One caller indicated that the pedestrian, a 24-year-old woman, appeared to have lost her arm as a result of the collision.
Officers arrived on scene and immediately began providing first aid. Paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital, along with her severed arm, which was located nearby. As of this writing, she is reported to be in stable condition.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was attempting to cross the tracks while carrying a bicycle when a southbound Amtrak train approached. The train struck the bicycle while it was still in her grasp, resulting in the traumatic injury.
It appears the bicycle may have become stuck on the tracks just before the collision occurred.
