Woman Killed by Goleta Train Identified

The Sheriff’s Office is releasing the identity of the pedestrian that was fatally injured by a train in Goleta yesterday July 26, 2017. The decedent is 65 year-old Ester Lopez de Reyes of Goleta. The Coroner’s Bureau is conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Next of kin has been notified.  

Just after noon yesterday at the Goleta Amtrak Station, for unknown reasons an adult female stepped in front of a northbound Amtrak passenger train as it was slowing to stop at the train station. The collision resulted in the death of the female victim. No other parties were injured. The cause of the collision is still under investigation. An official cause and manner of death is pending toxicology and lab results.

A woman was pronounced dead after being struck by a train on La Patera Lane in Goleta on Wednesday afternoon.

At 12:10 p.m., Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded with Sheriff’s Deputies and an ambulance to 15 S. La Patera Lane in Goleta. Upon arrival, they found a woman, believed to be in her mid-60’s, had been struck by the oncoming Amtrak passenger train. 

The woman was pronounced dead on arrival and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner is investigating.

Train vs. Pedestrian. Did not hear the whole call but heard this: “patient under the train is 1144.” Checked SB Co Fire Twitter 15 South La Patera this is where the train station is in Goleta. I don’t know the circumstances.
