Exciting flight experiences on the B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator, and B-25 Mitchell are available at this tour location. Flight training (no experience necessary) on the P-51 Mustang and P-40 Warhawk is also available to actually take the controls and fly the famous fighters of WWII with an experienced instructor for either 30 minutes or 60 minutes!
True the B-17 was called the Flying Fortress, but to avoid any confusion there was a B-17 and not a B-29 among the planes there. We heard and then saw the B-25 about 4:30 downtown, and earlier possibly a Vultee BT-13 Valiant over 101@Foothill flying the approach to SBA runway 15L – did one show up, or was it some other low-wing WWII era radial? Would be great to buy a lesson in the P-51 or P-40. I had a neighbor who flew combat in the P-40, and that took a lot of courage and skill in dogfights against newer designs. Quite a generation.
