By edhat staff

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory through Thursday morning while Fire Departments prepare for the worst.

Santa Barbara County south coast and mountain areas are under the advisory until 3:00 a.m. Thursday.

Northwest to north winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts between 35 and 45 mph are expected between Gaviota and Refugio as well as adjacent foothills. The winds are expected to continue through Wednesday night but weaken after midnight.

Santa Barbara County Fire Department with the support of CalOES will be prepositioning two hand crews and two dozers from 3:00 PM Wednesday until 8:00 AM Thursday due to elevated fire danger and sundowner winds.

The National Weather Service advises using extra caution while driving, especially on the San Marcos Pass and Gaviota Pass.
