BEAR-Y BIG ADVENTURE IN ORCUTT

Officers from the California Highway Patrol – Santa Maria area had an unexpected visitor reported all over town — a bear on a bit of a walkabout!

We received several calls about the bear’s journey as it wandered through Orcutt, making stops in a few neighborhoods before eventually being located near Benji Ln. and Ruby Crest Ct.

Thankfully, our friends at California Fish and Wildlife were able to safely and humanely subdue the bear. He’s now in good hands and will be relocated to a safer and more suitable habitat.

We’re grateful to the community for keeping a safe distance and reporting sightings calmly. Remember: if you ever see wildlife where it shouldn’t be, give us a call — and give the animals plenty of space.

Stay safe out there, and let’s hope this furry friend finds his way back to the wild for some well-deserved rest!
