Wildflower Status?

As of two days ago people were saying that it's looking very good. All say the road is now open up to the full closure prior to East Pinery. If you'd like I can give more details.

This is current ( 2 days ago ) from a former Botanic Garden employee. "Flowers are great. All along, buttercups en masse, yellow violas, fiesta flowers, various lupines, shooting stars and of course poppies". Pino Alto is closed along with all campgrounds, the adjacent hard closure is at Ranger Peak. 7N07A is open and you may hike into Davy Brown and White Rock.

A friend just drove all the way up there and said it was still closed.

It's still technically closed for both Fig Mtn. at 6.5 mi. from 154 and ECC from Painted Cave. But both had no signs or barricades and I personally talked to LP who said it's open and all their maps show you can go all the way. I and over a dozen others went to beyond Knapp's and back for several hours and had no problems and the same for Fig. Mtn. Gibraltar and Happy Canyon are of course hard closures throughout. I talked to my Road Dept. people a few days ago and it took several calls to decide whether it was closed or not. So maybe they finally decided they'd better go up and really close it.

As of today, Sun 4/2 just to be sure the road is and has been open for several days. The only signs are "Road closed to thru Traffic". In other words, all the way to Ranger Peak.

Sunday afternoon and I just came back from driving all the way up. I stopped to see the water right around the trailhead but did not hike up. From the road, the flowers do not look that exciting yet, but it was a beautiful, green drive.
