Whistle Club opened in 2014 as a retail boutique offering clothing and accessories in Santa Barbara.
McKinney said in the post that Whistle Club was founded with the intention of creating a space where guests felt confident, seen, and supported, while also providing designers a platform to share their work and creative intent.
She said that vision eventually grew into a close-knit community that extended beyond professional relationships.
In its final weeks of operation, Whistle Club offered 50% off all products both online and in-store as part of a farewell sale.
Located on Montecito’s Coast Village Road, Whistle Club offered quality, integrity, and thoughtful design, by supporting emerging designers alongside established fashion names.
The new year brought quite a few business closures in Santa Barbara. The most recent has been Macher. The brand announced in an Instagram post on January 7, 2026 that it closed its Santa Ynez location. The store was located in the Bohlinger Building at 1090 Edison Street, Suite 103.
In the post, Macher said it made the “difficult decision” after much consideration and thanked customers and friends for their support. No specific reason for the closure was provided.
Macher said the Santa Ynez closure will not affect its Goleta and Carpinteria locations, and its online store will continue to operate.
