These blossoms appeared on some "volunteers" (weeds) in my yard. They are exquisite. Does anyone know what they are?
some kind of lily...similar to a turks cap lily?
That flower is a Gloriosa superba, a vine that grows from a tuber. You are very lucky to have this volunteer in your garden, as it is not commonly grown.
Thank you. Unfortunately I rent, and the landlord's gardener just pulled them all out :-( . I'll let them know that perhaps that wasn't necessary--but maybe they can be invasive...
