To all of those going off hearsay, PLEASE do research before posting incorrect information.

K12.com is the answer for everyone - free and can be used to supplement or compliment your child's critical learning years, that politicians have now thrown into total chaos.

Unfortunately because of the new funding bill, K12 and all other home based learning alternatives are not taking on new students. I wish I would have signed up last year when the brick and mortar public schools failed my child. :(

And how about a funding to reconstruct the symbolic Bossie the Cow atop the building at Milpas and Canon Perdido?

A Go Fund Me exists https://www.gofundme.com/f/23kjw6579c as well as the alumni foundation is fundraising.

They had students driving though picking up all textbooks, paperwork, etc. students and parents were required to mask and remain in car.

Is this a serious question?

I wish! SB Unified has really outdone Goleta on this whole distance learning. I have kids in both (DP High and a Goleta elementary school) and I'm blown away how minimal the GUSD requirements are! DP High has been great with setting up support and making students feel "normal" and welcome. The GUSD elementary schools? Not at all.

BOSCO what a foolish argument. Distance learning is happening at least until Jan 2021, whether schools want to prepare themselves or not. Goleta is shooting themselves in the foot.

BOSCO - perhaps at the elementary level, but not High School. At DP they are doing the same schedule they would if it was hybrid learning as they planned. This way, the students can easily transition from remote to in-person for only 4 periods a day.

Based on the communication to parents it is because GUSD is committed to bringing students back to campus when they get the green light. SBUSD has put all their efforts into virtual. It's going to get real ugly when schools get the chance to reopen and SBUSD is stuck in virtual learning while GUSD and the private schools open their doors. The SBUSD board has failed in showing the parents there is a commitment to reopening.

they are doing distanced learning (online school)... I assume this is to feel a sense of normalcy
